St. Helens marching band and color guard earn high marks at first competition
The St. Helens High School marching band and color guard took home a second-place award in their division after competing at the Pacific Coast Invitational in Salem on Saturday, Sept. 30. St. Helens faced four other bands in the A Division, which is designated for bands with fewer than 71 members. The band also earned an award for high visuals and placed eighth out of 12 in the final rounds, where bands in all divisions are judged against one another. The St. Helens marching band will compete again on Oct. 12 at the Sunset Classic at Hillsboro Stadium.
