Deputies say Jason Harold Emanuel may have stolen truck, then used CC Rider bus to evade arrest

A man suspected of stealing a truck from a restaurant parking lot was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 26, at the Safeway grocery store in Clatskanie.

Jason Harold Emanuel, 49, was taken into custody Tuesday on charges of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and first-degree theft after deputies say he stole a red 2008 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck from Big Guys restaurant in Clatskanie.

EmanuelAccording to the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a stolen truck with a rifle and ammunition in the back seat from the restaurant parking lot at 9:11 a.m. Tuesday.

Deputies, with help from Oregon State Police and Rainier Police Department, spotted the truck shortly afterward in Rainier, but the driver sped off and eluded officers and deputies.

The truck was later found abandoned on West 4th Street near West F Street in Rainier, a CCSO incident report states. Law enforcement agencies searched the area, but couldn't find a suspect.

Investigators were able to get a description of Emanuel using video footage from a security camera at a business in Clatskanie, according to

Emanuel was found at the Safeway grocery store in Clatskanie at 11:43 a.m., where he was taken into custody and booked into jail.

As of Friday, Emanuel remained in jail on $3,625 bail.
