Gregory Michael Stanek, 55, arrested one week after being IDed as suspect in domestic assault case

Stanek A St. Helens man was arrested on assault, harassment and menacing charges Friday, May 11, nearly a week after he was identified as a suspect in a domestic assault case.

Gregory Michael Stanek, 55, was arrested last week at a home on Brinn Street on charges of assault I, menacing, reckless endangering, unlawful use of a weapon and harassment.

On May 4, law enforcement personnel from multiple agencies responded to a report of domestic assault. The victim, Jodi Rodds, 60, of St. Helens, was found to be suffering from a stab wound to her side and identified Stanek as the person who stabbed her, a press release from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office states.

CCSO, St. Helens Police Department, Scappoose Police Department and Oregon State Police all responded to the call and worked to clear homes, buildings and vehicles to locate Stanek following the report. Officers were unable to locate the suspect, who had fled the scene.

Last week, investigators learned Stanek might have returned to the Brinn Road home, where he was successfully taken into custody.

As of Monday, Stanek was being held at the Columbia County Jail on $11,375 bail.
