It is not an exaggeration to say that Columbia County is in crisis due to forces outside of its control: the economy, federal timber payments and Oregon's property tax system. It will take experienced, steady leadership to weather this storm.
But you don't change ship captains in the middle of a raging storm, and we shouldn't change county commissioners at this critical period in our county's history. That is why I am supporting Tony Hyde for county commissioner, position No. 3.
We need Tony's experience, leadership and steady hand to make the tough decisions that are needed to get us through this crisis. Tony is well known and highly respected here in the county as well as in Salem and Washington, D.C. If there are solutions to be found in legislation at that state or national level, Tony can carry that message to our elected representatives. He will work tirelessly for favorable results that will benefit all of the citizens of Columbia County.
Now is not the time for inexperienced or single-issue candidates.
We all wish things were better here in Columbia County. We need more jobs, more sheriff's patrols, better schools and fewer citizens who require public assistance. No one is more aware of this than Tony Hyde. And no one is better prepared to deal with these difficult issues that Tony.
Let's get through this crisis together by voting for Tony Hyde for Columbia County commissioner.
