St. Helens golf team 5th at Quail Valley

Just three matches remain in season

The St. Helens High boys' golf team finished fifth in an NWOC tournament at Quail Valley on Wednesday.

Eddie Martinez was the low medalist for St. Helens, shooting an 81. He is in fourth place in the league with three matches to go. He trails third by just two strokes.

'Some penalty strokes and three putts slowed his progress at Quail Valley,' St. Helens coach Dave Lawrence said. 'Colin (Chiddick) had a couple of birdies and is trying to get (past) his teammate Cody Teyema in the final standings. Cody also made a birdie, but got waylaid by a nine on the 14th hole. Nathan (Hunter) broke his driver by accident and just struggled after that. He is 14th in the league and having a nice season.'
