Team perseveres through rainy day in the mountains

The St. and #8200;Helens Lions got a couple of good scores last week in their last regular season match before the start of district this week.

Eddie Martinez shot a 37-38 for a 75 on a stormy day at the Resort at the Mountain, near Sandy.

'Eddie is fourth in league after a third place finish at The Resort,' and #8200;St. and #8200;Helens Coach and #8200;Dave Lawrence said. 'He competed very hard on a rainy and windy day. Nathan (Hunter) ran into a snowman (an eight) on the 14th hole, delaying his quest to break 80. Colin (Chiddick) played 14 good holes but had four 7's. Jacob (Roxey) is doing well and has been a pleasant addition to the team. Cody (Teyema) did very well through nine, but the rain and wind unsettled him on the back nine.'

The Lions and the other seven Northwest Oregon and #8200;Conference teams competed in district this week on Monday and Tuesday at The Reserve golf course.

The top teams and golfers advance to the state tournament this coming week.
