Teams downs Sandy, but falls to Sherwood

by: JOHN BREWINGTON - St. Helens' Brie Maye brings the ball up the field during last Tuesday's match with Sandy. The St. Helens Lady Lions dropped a match to second-ranked Sherwood last week, but also picked up a big win over Sandy.

The Lady Lions posted a 2-1 at Sandy on Tuesday night, but lost to league-leading Sherwood, 3-0, at home on Thursday.

St. Helens hosted Rex Putnam in their final match of the league season on Tuesday this week, and were involved in a play-in match Thursday. That match will be on the road at West Albany. Opponents in the state playoffs, should St. Helens win, depend on the OSAA power rankings after Tuesday’s matches.

The Lady Lions scored a goal in each half at Sandy, but couldn’t find the net during Thursday’s match with Sherwood.

Game and time of this week’s play-in will be determined later this week.
