Lions receive football honors
Team has four players on second team
The St. Helens Lions may not have had the most successful football season, but they put up a good battle in a number of games.
Four St. Helens players received second-team honors in balloting last week, and they had five receive honorable mention.
Named to the second-team offense were junior running back Tanner Long, and junior tight end Corey West. West would also receive honorable mention as a defensive lineman.
Second team defensive players included Joey Beggio, a senior, as a defensive lineman, and Andrew Gray, a senior inside linebacker. Beggio also received honorable mention on offense at center. Gray was honorable mention at guard.
Kicker Nathan Reed, a senior, received honorable mention on offense. Gage Bumgardner received honorable mention on offense at quarterback and on defense as an outside linebacker.
Junior Jacob Zartman received honorable mention at tackle on offense and as a defensive lineman.
Offense

Honorable Mention: Joey Beggio, center (5-10, 215, sr.); Andrew Gray, guard (5-7, 200, sr.); Nathan Reed, kicker (5-10, 165, sr.); Gage Bumgardner, quarterback (6-3, 168, jr.); Jacob Zartman, tackle (6-3, 230, jr.).
