Scappoose still within reach of playoffs

by: JOHN BREWINTON - Scappoose's Steven Johnson slides into third to lead off the Tribe's 12-run inning in a 17-0 win over Seaside on Wednesday.The Scappoose Indians sent 17 batters to the plate and scored 12 runs in a 17-0 Cowapa League win on Wednesday.

The win was the second in a row over Seaside. They beat them 4-2 on Monday. That game followed a slim 2-1, eight-inning loss to Tillamook last Friday.

With the two wins, Scappoose evened its league record to 4-4. They are just a game behind Tillamook and two games out of first. Astoria and Banks are tied for the league title.

The Indians need to finish at least third in the league to make the post-season play-in round.

The Tribe hosts Astoria Friday and travels to the coast on Monday. Wednesday, May 1 the Indians host Banks.
