Tribe golf team finishes third in 4A state
Scappoose drops a spot on second day, but still finishes with hardware
The Scappoose Indians slipped a bit on the second day of the 4A state golf tournament at Emerald Valley in Creswell, but still came home with the third-place trophy.
Scappoose found itself in second place in the tournament, some eight strokes behind La Salle, but they dropped a notch on the second day to finish just two strokes back of Baker.
Coach Steven Hagen was still pleased with the effort. They are a great group of kids and they played hard and gave it their best effort on a very difficult course.
Nick Nguyen led the way for Scappoose with a collective 170. He was tied for third with three others after shooting an 82 on the first day. He would finish ninth. Alex Lukinbeal finished 13th, Justin Olbrich 30th, Taylor Thomas 50th, Taylor Thomas 50th, and Tyler Lukinbeal 60th.
Seaside, the other Cowapa League team, was tied with Baker for third after the first day, but dropped down to finish sixth overall.
