The Oregon District 1 Little League softball tournaments are not as big as those for the boys with the brackets having just two or three teams.

The Hollywood and Rose City Little Leagues are hosting all four district tournaments at Roseway Heights. Some of the tournaments began July 3 with others starting July 5.

There are just two 10-11 and two junior softball teams, but Scappoose has squads in every bracket.

The Scappoose 10-11 team played a combined Hollywood/Rose City/Wilshire-Riverside in a best of three series on July 3. They meet again on July 6 at 10 a.m. If a third game is needed it will be played at 10 a.m. on July 7.

The Scappoose Juniors softball team played a combined Interstate-Kenton/Willamette team on July 3. They meet again on July 6 at 6 p.m. A third game would also be on July 7 if necessary, at a time to be determined. The winner goes to the state tournament at Klamath Falls.

The Little League All-Stars softball team is in a three-team bracket. Scappoose plays Parkrose at 6 p.m., July 5. The winner of that game plays Peninsula the next day at 12:30 p.m. The losers of the first two games then play at 12:30 p.m. on July 7. The winner plays the remaining unbeaten team at 6 p.m., Monday, July 8. There will be a second championship game if the Monday winner has their first loss—that game is 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9. The winner goes to the state tournament in Scappoose.

There is also a three-team 9-10 district tournament going on. Scappoose plays Willamette/WRLL at 3 p.m. on July 5. The winner plays Parkrose at 3 p.m. on July 6. The two losing teams then play on July 7, probably at 3 p.m. The winner advances to play the remaining unbeaten team at 3 p.m. on July 8. An “if” game would be held the next day if necessary. The winner advances to the state tournament in Scappoose.

Scappoose is hosting two state tournaments at Anderson Field and the District office field. Brackets for those tournaments have not been determined.
