Lady Indians badly need a win
Tribe girls lose to Astoria, Tillamook
The loss to league-leading Tillamook Friday isn't what hurt Scappoose the most last week, it was the loss to Astoria that was the killer.
The Lady Indians still have a shot at earning the fourth and final berth in the play-in rounds, but nothing is assured.
Scappoose could snag fourth with wins over Seaside and Banks, but might still have a shot if they beat Seaside, and Astoria and Seaside lose their other two games. Astoria plays Yamhill-Carlton Tuesday and Banks Friday, while Seaside had Tillamook and Scappoose on tap. If Scappoose loses to Banks, the best they can hope for is a tie with Seaside. Scappoose is at home for the last two regular season games.
Scappoose started the Tillamook game leading 12-11 after the first period, but the 'Mooks went on a 21-6 tear in the second period and led 32-18 at the half. It was even in the second half, but Scappoose could never make up the deficit.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Astoria game just didn't go right for the Lady Indians. They fell seven points behind in the first period, and finished the game seven behind. They closed the gap at times, but were having problems getting the ball in the net.
