Tanner Long and Gage Bumgardner each have ten, but St. Helens falls well short of Sandy

With just two games left on the schedule, the Lions hoped to win out, finishing on a three game winning streak, though the prospect of making the post season was grim.

The vision came crashing down on Tuesday evening, as St. Helens was blown out on the road at the hands of eleventh-ranked Sandy 68-30.

Seniors Tanner Long and Gage Bumgardner had ten points apiece in the loss for St. Helens, which will close out the season at home agains Parkrose on Friday, Feb. 28.

Long also contributed a pair of assists, five rebounds and a steal, but the Lions struggled to find any sort of rhythm on offense, committing 21 turnovers and putting up only 15 points by halftime.

The third quarter brought out the best in Long and Bumgardner, who each put up six of their ten points in the period, but that's where the wheels finally came off. St. Helens managed just three points down the stretch, a field goal and free throw from senior Corey West, and will look to end their season on a high note when Parkrose comes to town in the season finale.
