Lady Lions pick up tennis win
St. Helens loses just one doubles match
The St. Helens Lady Lions topped Milwaukie on Friday, 7-1, in a make-up match from March 13.
St. Helens won six of the seven matches played, and picked up another win by default.
St. Helens coach Michael McGregor said, 'Milwaukie has a down year this season with a low turnout and a new coach. Their No. 1 doubles team of Carrillo/Johnson accounted for their only win against us. With the exception of No. 2 doubles all of our victories were in straight sets. I think we have one of the strongest singles lineups in the conference this season. Our doubles teams are still learning to play with one another and need to learn more strategy but they will quickly improve.'
The Lady Lions will play another make-up match on Monday, April 2 when they return from spring break. They'll travel to Wilsonville for that match. The following day they'll host Sandy. A make-up match with Liberty, rained out March 22, will be rescheduled in the near future. St. Helens is at Parkrose on April 6.
