Registration deadlines nearing for fall youth sports

The fall sports seasons may seem months from the bright, warm days of June, but the deadlines to register for youth sports are drawing near.

The Scappoose Soccer Club, which has teams from U5 (pre-kindergarten) up to U14 (8th grade) is currently accepting registrations until the first of August, but late fees will be applied after July 15. Uniforms will be ordered on Aug. 1, with the soccer camp taking place Aug. 4-7. The coaching education week takes place between Aug. 11 and 15, with U10, 12 and 14 practices beginning on Aug. 25. All other practices will begin Sept. 1.

Players can register for Scappoose Youth Soccer on their website.

The St. Helens Youth Soccer Association will have two more in-person registrations this month. The first will be at the Best Western on June 26 from 6-8 p.m., and the second will run from 10 a.m. to noon at the St. Helens Library on June 28. The cutoff for registration is June 30, after which registrations will be charged a $25 late fee if there is still room on any of the teams.

Players can also fill out an online registration form.

For Scappoose Youth Football, the 3rd-6th grade registration will run until the first of July, at which point the registration fee will jump to $200. The medical release form is also due on the first of July, certifying players have passed a physical.

Players going into seventh or eighth grade must register for football when they register for school. Gear will be handed out for all ages on Aug. 4 at the Scappoose Middle School field, requiring a medical release to pick up the gear. Practice will begin the following day at the middle school with no pads, just a helmet, mouthpiece, shorts, shirt and cleats.

Registration can be done online at the Scappoose youth football website.

St. Helens Youth Football registration is now closed as of June 15.

Scappoose Youth Volleyball will be hosting their annual camp at the Scappoose High School gym from Aug. 11-14. The camp is open to everyone from fifth grade to incoming high school seniors, and will focus on serving and serve receive, passing, setting, hitting, defense, speed and agility. Registration forms can be mailed to Scappoose High School.
