St. Helens golfers 4th at Chehalem Glen

District coming up quick for golfers

The St. Helens High golf team finished fourth at Chehalem Glen, not too far out of second or third place.

The Lions had 358 strokes, just eight back of Liberty.

'We closed the gap on second and third place on a very difficult course,' Coach Dave Lawrence said. 'Nathan Hunter made 10 pars and one birdie to secure his first medalist position for our team.'

'Eddie (Martinez) struggled with his putting, but continues to be among the league leaders,' Lawrence noted. 'Jacob (Roxey) is really coming on and with more experience should continue scoring better. Colin (Chiddick) had a few drives derail a nice round. Cody Teyema had a rough start, but had two chip-ins.'

St. Helens plays at Quail Valley this Wednesday. Liberty is hosting the conference match-ups. They travel to the Resort at the Mountain on and #8200;Tuesday, May 1 for a Sandy hosted event. District is May 7-8 at The Reserve.
