The junior shot a 97, second only to Pendleton senior Haley Greb (74), and Scappoose's 497 followed Greb's Class 5A state runner-up Buckaroos (411).

Ali Jacobson (111), Kaitlyn Bakkensen (129), Alex Toman (132) and Christina Becker (164) raised the effort.

"We were able to play the front nine without any rain," said coach Joe Girres, whose Tribe is fresh from third place in Class 4A. "However, the back nine was a different story. Nonetheless, it was good to actually play a course and to get the 2017 golf season started."

The back-to-back-to-back Cowapa League champions are scheduled to enter their first such meet of the year at 12:30 p.m. on March 21 at Alderbrook Golf Course in Tillamook.
