Man who allegedly stabbed himself at Sherwood McDonalds arrested

Police believe Jamie Hearing stabbed himself after reporting he had been stabbed and robbed on Aug. 2

by: FILE PHOTO - Police closed the Sherwood McDonald's Aug. 2 after a man reported he had been stabbed and robbed. The restaurant opened several hours later.
Sherwood police have arrested a man they say stabbed himself after claiming someone else had stabbed and robbed him at the Sherwood McDonald’s restaurant on Aug. 2.

Jamie Hearing, 31, of Nehalem, turned himself into the Sherwood Police Department on Aug. 9 and was charged with initiating a false police report.

He was lodged at Washington County Jail.

The arrest stems from the Aug. 2 incident when police responded to the McDonald’s at 21335 S.W. Sherwood Boulevard on a report of a stabbing and robbery. Hearing at the time told police that his wallet had been stolen during the attack. However, an investigation by the Sherwood police and Washington County Major Crimes Team determined Hearing had stabbed himself, according to Capt. Mark Daniel, a spokesman for the Sherwood Police Department.

Police shut down the McDonald’s for several hours after the incident. Hearing was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
