According to dispatchers, the crash was reported at about 3:30 p.m. in the area of Southwest Scholls-Sherwood Road near Southwest Lebeau Road . Washington County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Bob Ray said the van drove into a power pole, bringing down power lines, before going down the embankment.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue reported via Twitter that crews used a rope system to reach to pull the trapped patient to safety. A Life Flight helicopter transported the victim to Oregon Health & Science University hospital. Their name and condition was not released.

The area was expected to remain closed to traffic for several hours, Ray said.

The number of occupants in the van and the details of the crash were not immediately confirmed.
