This year the city of Sherwood will honor veterans with a ceremony in Veterans Park in Old Town. The event will take place on Monday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. Keynote and guest speakers include Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici and Major Trisa Kelly, a chaplain who serves with the Oregon Air National Guard's 142nd Fighter Wing as the deputy wing chaplain.

The program will also feature Oregon City High School's JROTC Color Guard, Tim Birr from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue Pipes & Drums, students from Sherwood High School's A Cappella Choir and the Voices for the Performing Arts Footnote Choir.

"This is an event that was important for me to get started since my first day on the job. I believe that recognizing and thanking veterans is essential to building a strong community," said Sherwood City Manager Joseph Gall.

Following the ceremony, the Sherwood Heritage Center Museum will open their doors with displays and artifacts collected from various wartime periods.

Veterans Park is located at 22547 S.W. Main St.
