After running for almost 24 hours, Sherwood’s Jason Zacher finished his grueling 100-mile run in Lincoln City Sunday morning.

And with no major incidents, Zacher even took time out to wolf down a plain double cheeseburger after he hit mile 44.

“I was in awe of the support I got from people I did not even know,” Zacher texted from Lincoln City Sunday afternoon. “Almost every single intersection when I got home to Lincoln City had people lining them wanting pictures or hugs I have never seen anything like it”

Throughout the run, which he began at 11 a.m. Saturday at Waterfront Park, his Facebook page received almost 300 posts and messages wishing him good luck. He also had a gps link that allowed anyone interested to track his progress.

He crossed the finish line in Lincoln City (where he previously lived) at 10:05 a.m.

“People were literally staying up all night to follow my location on the gps program I gave them,” he said. “Sometimes you get to be part of something so special that it becomes more important to the people around you than yourself.”
