Conrad Lumber event set Friday aimed at aiding 3-month-old girl
Evelyn, who is three months old, has a broad diagnosis of aplastic anemia and most likely will need a bone marrow transplant to cure her disease
Conrad Lumber Company will be hosting an open house Friday, Aug. 9 that will include a marrow donor registry drive with the ultimate goal of matching donors with a young girl who will need a bone marrow transplant.
Events begin at 11 a.m. at the business, 13025 S.W. Tualatin-Sherwood Road.
Hopes are that the marrow donor registry, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and again from 5 to 8 p.m., will benefit Evelyn, the daughter of a Conrad Lumber employee who was born with abnormally low platelets and red and white blood cells. Evelyn, who is three months old, has a broad diagnosis of aplastic anemia and most likely will need a bone marrow transplant to cure her disease.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Carter of Conrad Lumber said the company hosts an open house every year but this is the first time theyve hosted this type of event.
This year it was a really good way to help Evelyn, said Carter.
The open house will include Portland Trail Blazer announcer Mike Barrett, who will be there from 5 to 8 p.m. Travis & Wilcox from 1080 the Fan will broadcast live from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition, 13 vendors will be on hand and there will be a chance to win a Traeger grill.
