A credit card and personal finance comparison website ranks Sherwood high on its lists of desireable Oregon cities
A little more than a month after Money magazine named Sherwood as one of the primo places to live in the nation, a personal finance and credit card comparison website has ranked the city No. 10 as the top cities in Oregon for young families.
Nerdwallet.com gave Sherwood a spot on its list the first time the 4-year-old website has begun ranking cities throughout the nation based on public school ratings, median home value, ongoing cost of home ownership, median income and economic growth.
Sherwood is a half-hour drive from Portland, and it is home to excellent schools, according to Nerdwallet.com. Sherwood High School earned a near-perfect rating from GreatSchools because of its performance on standardized tests. It goes on to say that the ranking is further boosted by the fact that 93 percent of the Class of 2011 planned to pursue higher education.
Sublimity came in No. 1 on Nerdwallet's list, followed by Sutherlin.
On Aug. 12, CNN Money magazine named Sherwood No. 5 of the best places to live in America today.. That ranking was based on a combination of economic strength, job growth, affordability, good schools, diversity, health care, a strong sense of community and other factors.
A spokeswoman for Nerdwallet said the website used its own data analysis, not relying on the Money magazine ranking.
