An unsecured trailer latch allows the animals to run free
Six sheep, who escaped from a trailer parked on the west side of Highway 99W, wandered around for a brief tour of Sherwood Monday morning.
The animals apparently went from Safeway to the Sherwood Ice Arena and back to Safeway again before darting across Highway 99W, according to Captain Ty Hanlon, a spokesman for the Sherwood Police Department.
From there, the animals went down Langer Drive before splitting up.
Police officers, cititzens and the sheep's owners all helped corral the animals.
"They were all captured without any injuries," said Hanlon. "Quite the circus for about 30 minutes. They were enjoying their freedom."
Hanlon said it appeared an unsecured latch was the reason for the animals' short venture around town.
