The new Sherwood business opened its doors on June 5 with aim to 'address injuries and movement problems through a very hands on evaluation and treatment approach to determine the underlying causes.'

GAZETTE PHOTO: RAY PITZ - Matt Whitaker, a physical therapist; Caitlyn Jensen, a patient care specialist; and Matt Weissbach, also a physical therapist, are there to serve at the recently opened Evolve Physical Therapy in Sherwood.Evolve Physical Therapy opened its doors in Sherwood on Monday, June 5, at 20510 S.W. Roy Rogers Road in Suite 120.

This outpatient clinic is a partnership between two physical therapists, local Sherwood resident Matt Weissbach and Portland resident Matt Whitaker.

"We are excited to offer a locally and independently owned service to the growing Sherwood community," said Matt Weissbach. "Evolve Physical Therapy was started as a response to the growing trend of declining quality in health care delivery. We are different in our approach that everyone will receive one-on-one care from an experienced physical therapist."

Weissbach was born and raised in Canada, and graduated from Queen's University in 2002. He lived in Hawaii from 2002 to 2011, and relocated with his family to the Pacific Northwest in late summer 2011.

"People should expect measurable improvement in a timely manner when they work with us," said Matt Whitaker. "Our approach is hands on and collaborative because we believe that a partnership is required to achieve optimal results."

Originally from the rural North Carolina, Whitaker received his professional training at Loma Linda University graduating in 1998 and has lived in Utah and California prior to moving to the Northwest in 2016.

Their diversified skill set developed from specialized training and a combined 34 years of clinical experience allows them to work with a wide range of physical problems.

Matt Whitaker explained, "Often after injuries, people become spectators. We want to keep them active! Whether it's a teenager who has to give up their sport because of overuse injuries or a senior citizen who is limited in the ability to enjoy their grandchildren or play a round of golf, we have experience with helping people become more active."

"At Evolve Physical Therapy we address injuries and movement problems through a very hands on evaluation and treatment approach to determine the underlying causes," Matt Weissbach added. "We also utilize high speed video analysis to identify more subtle challenges that can have large impacts on movement and performance. By using this tool for both treatment and education, each person will achieve customized results. One of our specialty programs integrates high speed video for the treatment of running related injuries."

Both Matt Weissbach and Matt Whitaker have spouses who work in health care and each has children who are actively involved in sports and the performing arts. Their reason for choosing the location for their clinic was simple; both were drawn to Sherwood's strong sense of community involvement and pride.

Their newly remodeled facility is over 4,000 square feet with more than half of the space dedicated to an open treatment and gym area. The environment of the clinic is upbeat and energetic which creates the atmosphere that is fun and rewarding. "Our slogan is 'Active For Life' and we believe that applies to all individuals and all ages. We want you to 'Move Better, Feel Better, and Live Better.' "
