Second-annual Big Float this Sunday

Organizers of the second-annual Big Float event on the Willamette River this Sunday are shooting for the record books.

They hope to set a world record for the largest number of inner-tubes — or inner-tubers— combined to make a raft.

The all-in-fun event, a mass crossing of the river in downtown Portland, is billed as a giant pool party. It’s designed to get Portlanders back into the river now that it’s been largely freed of untreated sewage.

The event is slated to begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 29.
