Daimler seeks renewal of air pollutant permit
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality will hold a public hearing before renewing Daimler Trucks North Americas air quality permit.
Daimler operates the Western Star Truck Plant on Swan Island, and its permit entitles the company to emit limited hazardous pollutants into the air associated from its truck-painting operations.
The permit would limit particulate matter, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide, volatile organic compounds and other hazardous emissions associated with truck-painting, combustion of fuel from cutting and welding operations.
Neighbors and other interested parties may attend the hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 7, at the University of Portlands Buckley Center Auditorium, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd. People can ask questions or provide comments on the proposal.
In addition, written comments may be sent to Lynne Kent, DEQ, 2020 S.W. Fourth Ave., Suite 400, Portland, OR 97201, but 5 p.m. Thursday, March 14.
