Boyd supports women coffee growers
Gresham-based Boyd Coffee Co. launched a new Harvested by Women Certified Coffee label, which supports women growers in Costa Rica who meet social and sustainability standards.
The ¡Café Libre! line of coffee will be available at New Seasons Market, Lambs Thriftway and other stores.
A 25-cent donation from each retail package will be made to non-profit organizations in coffee-producing countries.
Katy Boyd Dutt, a fourth-generation Boyd family member involved in the company, learned about the new certification at the International Womens Coffee Alliance conference in Guatemala last winter.
We were the first certified roaster to sell organically grown coffee in 1990 and the first U.S. roaster to import Rainforest Alliance Certified coffee in 1999, Dutt says.
