Organic beer festival aims to be eco-friendly
Drink organic, save the planet.
Thats the mantra behind the 10th-annual North American Organic Brewers Festival, scheduled June 26 to 29 at Overlook Park in North Portland.
The event will serve more than 50 organic beers from nearly 40 breweries. The event is family friendly, with live music, organic food, sustainability-oriented vendors and a Chipotle Kids Zone. Minors must be accompanied by parents.
Last years event recycled and composted 92 percent of its waste, as the festival seeks to be the most earth-friendly beer festival on the planet. Attendees drink from reusable and compostable cups, food vendors are required to use compostable cutlery and electricity is provided by biodiesel generators.
Theres no admission fee, but users must purchase a $6 cup as well as $1 tokens to buy drinks. Drinks cost $4 for a full cup of beer or cider and 4-ounce tastes cost $1.
