by: COURTESY ECOFILM FESTIVAL  - GMO OMG is a documentary on corporate efforts to patent and control seeds. The Portland EcoFilm Festival continues at the Hollywood Theatre on Thursday, June 26, with the screening of “GMO OMG,” a one-and-a-half-hour documentary by Jeremy Seifert on genetically modified organisms and the corporate effort to own and control seeds.

The documentary will be shown at 7:30 p.m. at the theatre on 4122 N.E. Sandy Blvd. in Portland.

Afterwards, there will be a panel Q&A with Scott Bates of Oregon Right to Know and farmers who helped pass bans on growing GMO crops in Jackson and Josephine counties on the May ballot. Oregon Right to Know is sponsoring a state ballot initiative to require labeling of GMO ingredients in foods, and is gathering signatures to qualify the measure for Oregon’s November ballot.
