EcoFilm Festival offers documentary about Mexican corn growers
The EcoFilm Festival returns to Hollywood Theatre with the U.S. premiere of Sunu, a documentary about corn growers in Mexico and corporate efforts to control the seed market.
The 80-minute film, directed by Teresa Camou and made in Mexico, airs Thursday, Feb. 11, at 7:30 p.m. Hollywood Theatre, a nonprofit, is located at 4122 N.E. Sandy Boulevard in Portland. General admission is $8.
Musician Edna Vasquez also will perform at the event, offering original compositions influence by Mexican folkloric and other Latin American rhythms.
Sunu knits stories of Mexican maize producers and their efforts to work the land and cultivate their seeds, a way of life that may be threatened.
