Student readings to honor our rivers

Annual anthology features stories, photographs, drawings from young people that show their appreciation for rivers

COURTESY PHOTO  - The new anthology of student writings and art work is out. Students will read from their stories published in the new 2017 Honoring our Rivers Student Anthology at Powell's City of Books, Southwest 10th Avenue and Burnside in downtown Portland, on Sunday, May 21, from 4 to 5 p.m. Student art work used in the annual publication also will be displayed.

Students submitted more than 600 entries of stories, original art and photographs for this year's competition. The winning cover art submission for this year's anthology is Portland River Skate, a painted skateboard by 4th-grader Oliver Opsahl.
