The Columbia Slough Watershed Council sponsors its 23rd-annual Columbia Slough Regatta on Sunday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Don't be fooled by the regatta name. It's not a race, but a leisurely paddle with a chance to watch wildlife. Attendees can rent a canoe or kayak free of charge and explore Portland's hidden waterway with hands-on environmental activities.
The event starts at the Multnomah County Drainage Districts office, at 1880 N.E. Elrod Drive in Portland.
