Sandy's farmers market is beginning to look more like a farmers market, with an increase in seasonal vegetables, fruit and berries.

Sandy's First Saturday Market coordinator, Carol Cohen, is still adding vendors to the monthly gathering - now at its good-weather venue between City Hall and Meinig Park.

The market is set to open this coming Saturday at its usual 10 a.m., with an eclectic array of offerings from local gardeners, crafters and artists.

While shoppers are browsing through the booths, they'll be treated to some great music by two members of a well-known group that plays Irish tunes.

Matt Rotchford and Dylan Thomas Vance, members of St. James Gate, will play a variety of musical styles, including Irish, folk and blues.

Among the vendors offering their wares is a crafter who makes leather products such as belts and purses, one with photographs and another who will bring handmade greeting cards to benefit SnowCap Community Charities in Gresham.

Another artisan will bring some elegant crochet work, adding to the array of market offerings.

Vendors for the July 7 market also will offer handmade soap, plants such as shrubs and hanging flower baskets as well as vegetable starts for tomatoes, peppers and herbs.

Market visitors also will see custom-made bird houses, and kids can pet the cutest alpacas on the planet.

Shoppers who become hungry during their visit to the market will find a great variety of food available, thanks to AntFarm of Sandy.

The monthly market is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 7, behind City Hall, 39250 Pioneer Blvd.
