Action Center aids kids at school

The Sandy Community Action Center is trying to help the community’s most needy families and is conducting a one-week drive to gather donations for the beginning of school.

This week, center director Rita Ezard is asking local residents to gather any back-to-school supplies and nonperishable food that would be proper for a child’s lunch.

Next week in The Post, Ezard will identify the locations where collection barrels can be found around Sandy.

The collection barrels will be out between Saturday, Sept. 1, and Friday, Sept. 7.

Children who have been receiving free lunch at school as well as free lunches during the summer are most likely to be in need of help with food at the beginning of the school year.

Ezard said they also could be short on the types of school supplies needed to participate fully in their classes.

For more information, call Ezard at 503-668-4746 or read the news brief next week in the Aug. 29 Sandy Post.
