A committee of the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce has nominated a slate of eight members for the six board of directors’ seats on the ballot for next year’s board.

Those chosen to run in the contested election include incumbents Roz Rushing, Laura Allen, Geoff Kenway and Jerry Knowlton as well as challengers Mike Pickett, Andreanne Rode, Hannah Smith and Brian Adams.

Those remaining on the board for another year include Mary Forrest, Terry Lenchitsky, Sr., Rod Barker, Lisa Foster, Jay McRostie and Madeleine Eno.

The vote takes place Wednesday, Oct. 10. The annual membership meeting is scheduled for Dec. 12, and the newly elected officers begin their two-year terms Jan. 1, 2013.

Chamber sends member surveys

The Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce is asking for help from its members. Chamber staff has sent a digital questionnaire with 10 questions asking whether the chamber is meeting each member’s expectations.

The email survey also has three incentive gifts that will be awarded at the Oct. 10 chamber luncheon. The gifts are $25 gift certificates for items in the chamber’s visitor center.

Chamber Executive Director Mitch Speck said the survey will help him, his staff and chamber volunteers do a better job of serving the expressed needs of the group’s members.

Commission in Sandy Oct. 10

All five Clackamas County commissioners are expected to attend a luncheon meeting of the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce.

The commissioners visit the chamber once a year to discuss their goals and accomplishments and hear what business owners and employees have to say.

Chamber Executive Director Mitch Speck will moderate the forum.

The $12 luncheon begins at noon Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the Sandy Fire Department Annex, 17460 Bruns Ave., across the street from the fire station.

Attendance is free, but the lunch, catered by the Tollgate Inn, is $12, and reservations for the lunch or to attend the forum without lunch are required.
