Honor all veterans Sunday, Nov. 11

The veterans of foreign wars Post No. 4273 in Sandy will help the community honor veterans during a ceremony beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, in Sandy’s Centennial Plaza.

VFW Commander Merle Stewart said the observance is different than Memorial Day, which honors the country’s war dead.

“Veterans Day,” he said, “is largely intended to thank living veterans for dedicated and loyal service to their country. It is the day that we ensure veterans know that we deeply appreciate the sacrifices they have made in their lives to keep our country free.”

While inviting the community to the ceremony Nov. 11, Stewart said there would be a potluck lunch after the event at the VFW Hall, 38452 Proctor Blvd.
