Police log

Information for the public safety column comes from public records of the Sandy Police Department. Police recently filed reports on the following incidents:

ARRESTS

12:57 p.m. Oct. 27; Joseph R. Biando, 24, transient, was arrested in the 39600 block of Proctor Boulevard for public intoxication. Authorities at the Hooper detox center refused to accept Biando because of his “adverse behavior.” He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail without bail.

1:21 p.m. Oct. 28; Diane K. Hatter, 51, Sandy, was arrested in the 38800 block of Creekside Loop for possession of methamphetamine. She was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $15,000 bail.

CITATIONS

10:35 p.m. Oct. 25; Marco A. Martinez-Menchaca, 24, Sandy, was cited into Sandy Municipal Court and released near Jacoby Street and Trillium Avenue, accused of theft.

10:35 p.m. Oct. 25; Kellina A. Ramirez, 30, transient, was cited into Sandy Municipal Court and released near Jacoby Street and Trillium Avenue, accused of theft.

6 a.m. Oct. 28; Conner J. Hand, 19, Portland, was cited into Sandy Municipal Court and released near Pioneer Boulevard and Strauss Avenue, accused of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

6 a.m. Oct. 28; Robert C. Moore, 19, Portland, was cited into Sandy Municipal Court and released near Pioneer Boulevard and Strauss Avenue, accused of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

WARRANTS

11:10 p.m. Oct. 23; Mitchell R. Jordan, 54, Sandy: arrested in the 37600 block of Highway 26 on a Multnomah County warrant for theft as well as a failure to appear warrant from Oregon City for trespassing and theft. He also was accused of trespassing at a business in Sandy. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail without bail.

2:36 p.m. Oct. 25; Steven J. Mitchell, 24: arrested in the 40000 block of Davis Street on a Multnomah County warrant for possession of heroin and driving while intoxicated as well as a warrant from Clackamas County for possession of heroin. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail without bail.

IMPAIRED DRIVING

2:23 a.m. Oct. 25; Danny R. Baker, 49, Sandy: arrested in the 18000 block of Bluff Road under suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the Clackamas County Jail where he was cited and later released.

JUVENILES

7:20 a.m. Oct. 24; a 17-year-old boy was arrested in a wooded area near the high school after an officer smelled marijuana. There were two juveniles, and they allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana. One was found to have less than one ounce in his possession, and was accused of having it within 1,000 feet of a school.

4:26 p.m. Oct. 24; a male juvenile was burned while playing with a flammable liquid and lighting it on fire. The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment, and the case is still under investigation.

MISCELLANEOUS

8:57 p.m. Oct. 11; a 41-year-old transient was located in the parking lot of a business in the 37400 block of Highway 26. Since Clackamas County had issued a warrant for his arrest, the officer transported the man to jail. But he was refused admittance to the jail because of an injury. The officer took the man to a hospital so he could receive treatment, but the warrant remained active.

9:17 a.m. Oct. 16; a Sandy police officer stopped a vehicle that had been following too closely. The driver had been injured in a domestic violence dispute, but would not give the officer any information about the reason for her injuries. The officer photographed the injuries and gave her information about domestic violence resources. The officer also gave her a verbal warning about the traffic violation and her ability to avoid emotions affecting driving habits.

10 a.m. Oct. 17; the Department of Human Services notified Sandy police there might be a problem with a child being “spanked and choked” by a grandparent. Police noted that the grandparent was not near the child at the time of the report, and there was no need for police to respond.
