AntFarm is holding a fundraiser by selling Christmas trees through Sunday, Dec, 23, at the Sandy Historical Museum, 38345 Pioneer Blvd.by: POST PHOTO: KRISTOPHER ANDERSON - AntFarm and the Sandy Historical Museum are holding a Christmas tree sale fundraiser.

The hours are:

n 3-7 p.m. Monday-Friday.

n 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday.

n 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Each tree will be sold for $15. The museum and AntFarm will split the proceeds, and AntFarm will give 25 percent of its earnings to the volunteer youths running the sale. It will be a small stipend for the kids in AntFarm’s work force development program, which will give them an opportunity to run a business, work with people and handle money.

Bins also will be available for people who want to donate backpacks, blankets, socks and other items, which will be handed out to local homeless people.

The idea for the sale materialized just a couple of weeks ago when a local tree farmer wanted to help raise money for the museum. Carl McDermid approached the museum and offered to donate trees, and in turn, the museum brought the idea to AntFarm and asked if it would want to assist in the sale.

“It was an example of (people) coming together, and we’re just making it happen,” said Nunpa, executive director of AntFarm and Woape.

n AntFarm will be open Christmas Day for any youth who doesn’t have a home or needs a place to go that day. AntFarm, at 39140 Proctor Blvd., Sandy, will offer food and drinks. For more information, call 503-622-3548.
