Police log

Information for the public safety column comes from public records of the Sandy Police Department. Police recently filed reports on the following incidents:

ARRESTS

5:11 p.m. Dec. 19; Christopher D. VanGordon, 25, Sandy, was arrested at his home under suspicion of assault. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $7,500 bail.

2:34 a.m. Dec. 23; Alan M. Eastman, 33, Sandy, was arrested in Welches under suspicion of committing an assault in Sandy. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $7,500 bail.

WARRANTS

9:30 p.m. Dec. 17; Michelle L. Simms, 23, Sandy, was arrested in a vehicle parked in the driveway of a resident of the 37700 block of Coralburst Street after being barred from that residence. She was arrested on a Multnomah County warrant for theft. She also was cited for trespassing. She was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $1,234 full bail.

5:40 a.m. Dec. 20; Jessie R. Rollins, 31, a transient, was arrested in the 36600 block of Highway 26 on a Clackamas County felony warrant for a probation violation as an absconder. She was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail without bail.

10:40 p.m. Dec. 22; Jessica A. Dhone, 25, a transient, was arrested after a domestic dispute in the 39200 block of Hood Street. She was arrested on a Multnomah County warrant for possession of heroin. She was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $55,550 bail. She was later transported to the Multnomah County Jail.

IMPAIRED DRIVING

2:44 a.m. Dec. 22; Matthew A. Pechmann, 21, Gresham, was arrested on Highway 26 near Industrial Way under suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He also was cited for reckless driving after being measured by radar driving at speeds in excess of 100 mph. He was transported to the Clackamas County Jail, where he was cited and released. His vehicle was impounded.

CITATIONS

11:45 a.m. Dec. 17; Glenn E. Towne, 34, Forest Grove, was cited and released near Bluff Road and Highway 26, accused of speeding and driving without insurance. The vehicle was impounded.

5:58 p.m. Dec. 18; Erin M. Richardson, 37, Sandy, was taken into custody at a business in the 16600 block of 362nd Drive, accused of theft in the business. She was taken to the Sandy Police Department, where she was questioned, cited and released.

BURGLARY

11:30 a.m. Dec. 17; police were called to a business in the 39000 block of Proctor Boulevard on a report of an attempted burglary. The suspect stole a surveillance camera that was mounted outside the building, then tried to enter the business through a window. The suspect was not successful and was not identified.

4:43 p.m. Dec. 17; police were called to a business in the 38700 block of Pioneer Boulevard on a report of an attempted burglary. The initial report told the officer the suspect was still inside the business, but when the officer arrived the suspect had left the area. The suspect’s belongings, however, were left inside a small storage room, where the suspect apparently had been sleeping.

8:39 a.m. Dec. 18; police were called to a business in the 36600 block of Highway 26 on a report of an attempted burglary. The suspect stole a $100 surveillance camera that was mounted outside the building but was not successful at entering the business. The suspect was not identified because of the clothing worn — a hood, hat and ski mask.

10:45 a.m. Dec. 20; the owner of a trailer parked in the 37600 block of Sunset Street reported that some tools had been taken from the trailer, but no one had seen any suspects.

10:46 a.m. Dec. 21; police were called to a business in the 39300 block of Proctor Boulevard on a report of an attempted burglary. During the night, an unknown suspect broke a window but was unsuccessful in gaining entrance to the business.

THEFT

10:30 a.m. Dec. 17; a woman living in the 39400 block of Gary Street reported that some of her prescription medicine was missing after she moved to another home nearby.

4:45 p.m. Dec. 19; a woman living in the 15900 block of Bluff Road reported that someone had used her bank card to buy something in China.

12:23 p.m. Dec. 23; a transient had attempted the theft of a truck from a business in the 36600 block of Industrial Way. Employees of the business chased the thief, stopping him near Highway 26 and Langensand Road, where he fled on foot. When police arrived, the suspect was not to be found.

1:31 p.m. Dec. 23; a Sandy woman reported the theft of her wallet in the 38100 block of Highway 26. Police were told the wallet contained several credit cards and that several hundred dollars in purchases had been charged to the cards.

JUVENILES

11:30 a.m. Dec. 6; a 15-year-old boy was found in possession of marijuana after he and several others left the high school campus during the school day. The youth was taken into custody and transported to the county juvenile department for corrective action. The youths who were with the boy received school discipline for being off campus.

11:50 a.m. Dec. 12; a 17-year-old boy was discovered to be in possession of tobacco. He was cited for minor in possession of cigarettes.

3:59 p.m. Dec. 12; a moderator in an Internet chat room notified police that a Sandy female juvenile had made suicidal threats. Police went to the juvenile’s home and discussed the situation with the girl and her mother. The girl said she just made the threats in “fun,” but her mother said she would handle the situation.

9:30 p.m. Dec. 19; two parents of a boy who had been reported to the Clackamas County Sheriff as a runaway talked with a Sandy police officer, telling him the boy had threatened to hurt himself by stepping in front of a moving vehicle. The officer was able to persuade the boy (on the telephone) to come to the police department, where he was detained and transported to Emanuel Hospital for a mental evaluation.

5:57 p.m. Dec. 20; a woman who lives in the 14700 block of Bluff Road reported to police that her 16-year-old daughter had run away from home during the day. The officer made many contacts but could not find the girl's whereabouts. She was listed on a national database.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF

8:30 a.m. Dec. 4; during the weekend, someone broke a large window at Cedar Ridge Middle School.

11:50 a.m. Dec. 9; at a cemetery in the 37700 block of Highway 26, a headstone was found to be knocked over and broken.

11:52 a.m. Dec. 10; during the weekend, someone drove a vehicle on a newly poured concrete driveway, damaging it so much that it required replacement.

MISCELLANEOUS

3:30 p.m. Dec. 15; a Sandy police officer received a report from a female (age unidentified) about sexual assaults that occurred more than one year ago. She told the officer she was assaulted by a friend on two separate occasions. A statement and description of the incidents was taken, and the case was given to a detective for a continuing investigation. According to the police report, charges — if approved by the district attorney — could range from sexual assault to sodomy to rape or strong-arm assault.

11 a.m. Dec. 17; a 21-year-old woman met with Sandy police at a hospital in Gresham to report that she was raped the previous evening at a residence in the 38700 block of Pioneer Boulevard. The investigation is continuing.

8:53 p.m. Dec. 17; a man living in the 19000 block of Wellesley Avenue flagged a passing police officer to report that his sister was being harassed. He said someone had left a note on her front door. The officer contacted the man’s sister, and the investigation is continuing.

5:46 p.m. Dec. 19; a woman living in the 14400 block of Hollyview Terrace in Damascus reported to a Sandy police officer that she thought her ex-husband had taken some of her firearms. The officer spoke with the woman and her ex, and determined it was a civil matter, not criminal.

8:44 a.m. Dec. 20; a 46-year-old woman from Happy Valley was kicked out of the Sandy Community Center because she refused to follow the established rules. The woman was told she would be arrested if she didn’t leave immediately and she would be arrested if she returned.

LOST AND FOUND

11 a.m. Dec. 4; a bicycle was located in the front yard of an abandoned home in the 17000 block of Bluff Road. The bicycle was placed in the police property room for safekeeping.

2:11 p.m. Dec. 6; an apparently abandoned bicycle was located in the 39600 block of Gary Street. The bicycle was placed in the police property room for safekeeping.
