Heres Facebook help for businesses

The Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce is offering a free workshop to help local businesses make their Facebook page more effective.

The group’s monthly Brown Bag Workshop will be held next week. The topic is how to write your “About” page on Facebook to make it more effective. Madeleine Eno, owner of In the Write Place, will teach the workshop.

Eno says visitors to Facebook pages spend more time on the “About” page than any other page, and it’s important to make it attractive to the people you want to attract as customers.

The workshop will be from noon to 1 p.m. today at the chamber office, 38963 Pioneer Blvd.

AEC owner plans new parking lot

Ernie Brache, AEC owner, received approval at the Jan. 7 Sandy City Council meeting to change the zoning on a piece of property south of his building.

The zone change will open the door to build a parking lot for employees of businesses in the Heritage Square, thus alleviating the lack of parking for customers of those businesses.

The property, nearly an acre in size, is located south of Pioneer Boulevard, north of Tupper Road and east of Junker Street.

The parking lot proposal is for a future project that will require city approval as well as meet requirements of the Oregon Department of Transportation.
