Police log

Information for the public safety column comes from public records of the Sandy Police Department. Police recently filed reports on the following incidents:

IMPAIRED DRIVING

1:30 a.m. Feb. 10; Heidi M. Betthauser, 27, Boring, was arrested near Meinig Avenue and Pioneer Boulevard under suspicion of driving while intoxicated, after an officer observed several traffic violations. She received warnings and a citation for an unlawful and unsignaled turn. She was released to family members at the Sandy Police Department.

6:56 p.m. Feb. 10; Jeff S. Miller, 54, Sandy, was arrested near Bruns Avenue and Pioneer Boulevard under suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He refused to take a breath test, and was cited for that violation. He was transported to the Clackamas County Jail, where he was booked and later released.

THEFT

7:18 a.m. Feb. 6; a resident of the 39200 block of Barker Court reported that someone had broken the window of a vehicle parked in the victim’s driveway. Some sports equipment was reported missing.

9:12 a.m. Feb. 7; a man who lives in the 37300 block of Olson Street reported that his credit score had dropped significantly. After checking, he discovered that between 2008 and 2010 someone had used his identity information to open and use a cell phone account, gathering a bill that was nearly $2,000 and in the collections phase. Police are conducting an investigation.

JUVENILES

8:37 p.m. Feb. 6; a 15-year-old boy who had been reported as a runaway from a boys’ home near Welches was taken into custody in the 39800 block of Highway 26. There was an issue of alleged possession of methamphetamine, and the boy was taken to the county juvenile department for corrective action.

4:35 p.m. Feb. 7; a child was found crying on the nature trail near Sandy High School. An adult took the child to the police department, and the parents were called. One parent came to retrieve the child, and the officer notified the Department of Human Services.

1:23 p.m. Feb. 10; a 14-year-old boy admitted that he had spray painted gang symbols on a neighbor’s fence in the 37300 block of Sandy Heights Street. The boy was taken to the county juvenile department for corrective action.

WARRANTS

10:43 p.m. Feb. 7; Richard Cruikshank, 27, a transient, was arrested in the 38000 block of Proctor Boulevard on two Clackamas County warrants for harassment and contempt of court. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $25,000 bail.

2:25 p.m. Feb. 7; Jeramy W. Carson, 25, Sandy, was arrested in the 39200 block of Pioneer Boulevard on a Clackamas County warrant as well as for possession of methamphetamine. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $40,000 bail.

2:25 p.m. Feb. 7; Michelle L. Simms, 24, a transient, was arrested in the 39200 block of Pioneer Boulevard on warrants for multiple crimes from Clackamas and Multnomah counties as well as for possession of methamphetamine. She was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $151,234 bail.

1:39 p.m. Feb. 8; Alan M. Eastman, 33, a transient, was arrested near Pioneer Boulevard and Bruns Avenue on a Clackamas County warrant for possession of methamphetamine. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $50,000 bail.

1:39 p.m. Feb. 8; Danny J. Woodward, 23, a transient, was arrested near Pioneer Boulevard and Bruns Avenue on a Clackamas County warrant as a parole absconder and on a Multnomah County warrant for theft. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail without bail.

11:21 p.m. Feb. 8; Ronald B. Haner, 45, Sandy, was arrested near Bluff Road and Marcy Street on a Clackamas County warrant for failure to appear for possession of methamphetamine. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $10,000 bail.

9:15 a.m. Feb. 10; Thomas J. Olsen, 24, a transient, was arrested in the 39800 block of Pleasant Street on a Clackamas County parole detainer for leaving a corrections work release project without permission. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail without bail.

4:04 p.m. Feb. 10; Blake M. Smith, 31, Portland, was arrested near Dubarko and Jacoby roads on a Clackamas County warrant for theft. He also was charged with possession of a prescription drug. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $30,000 bail.

CITATIONS

3:32 p.m. Feb. 4; R. Steven West, 56, Sandy, received two citations into Sandy Municipal Court and was released in the 39300 block of Proctor Boulevard, since he is the registered agent for the East Clackamas County Gazette, which has not paid its transit tax to the city and has not purchased a business license to operate in Sandy.

1 a.m. Feb. 6; Linnea M. Kimble, 19, Gresham, was cited and released near Bluff Road and Green Mountain Street for several traffic violations. She was cited for possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana. Some drug paraphernalia was seized and several traffic and equipment violation warnings were given.

10:24 p.m. Feb. 8; James L. Judge, 32, Gresham, was cited and released near Highway 26 and University Avenue for driving while suspended.

10:24 p.m. Feb. 8; Blake R. Jossi, 19, Gresham, was cited and released near Highway 26 and University Avenue for possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

MISCELLANEOUS

10:59 p.m. Feb. 5; a vehicle towed from a residence in the 38500 block of Cascadia Village Drive was reported as stolen. But the vehicle was reported as repossessed about 3-1/2 hours later, and therefore was removed from the stolen list.

2 p.m. Feb. 8; a passenger on a SAM bus threatened another passenger with a knife. The driver chastised the man with the knife, and police have excluded him from riding a Sandy bus for at least six months.
