Books on wheels

In the past the group has donated at least $13,000 worth of new bookshelf units on wheels. The latest donation of three two-sided bookshelf carts will assist the operation of the young adult and children’s areas, said Friends President George Hoyt, who also volunteers at the Book Nook.

“The additional mobile shelving,” Hoyt said, “adds new capacity and easier space makeover for events such as First Friday.”

The latest investment in library infrastructure is valued at $4,750, and was constructed by local cabinetmaker Dennis Duhrkoop.

All of the cabinets, totaling nearly $18,000 in value, were paid for with proceeds from the sale of used books through the Book Nook, inside the library.
