Legal issues on luncheon agenda

The April 10 luncheon meeting of the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce will feature another presentation on overlooked business issues from a legal point of view.

Jay McRostie of Young Twedt McRostie of Gresham will present the program.

This is Part 2 of the presentation that was so well received in March.

So the legal team of McRostie and Rod Barker is returning to finish the presentation and answer more questions.

The chamber’s monthly networking luncheon meeting is scheduled from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, in the Sandy Fire Department Annex, 17459 Bruns Ave.

Figaro’s Pizza will cater the $12 luncheon.

Organizers are asking for RSVP.

For more information or to reserve a seat, call the chamber office at 503-668-4006.

Connect with Sandy biz owners

The Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce will have its Good Morning Sandy networking event at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, in Boring at the Hood View Junior Academy, 26505 Kelso Road, a short distance west of the Mountain View Golf Club.

The event is held to give opportunities for local entrepreneurs to meet people from other businesses, while enjoying some fun and door prizes.

Bring a dollar to enter a drawing, which gives prizes to the winners and saves 50 cents from each entrant to pay for gifts and food for a needy family next Christmas.

For more information on this networking event or how to connect with local business owners, call 503-668-4006.

Legal issues for small businesses

A “Small Business Legal Basics” seminar is offered free at the Small Business Development Center at Mt. Hood Community College.

In this seminar — offered from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 — participants will learn how to protect a small business and deal with some of the legal issues involved.

Topics include avoiding common mistakes with contracts, hiring employees and structuring the business. It also covers licensing regulations as well as tax implications. The seminar, limited to 20 students, is offered in partnership with the law firm Young Twedt McRostie LLP.
