Join biz owners today

The Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce will have its occasional Chamber After Hours networking event at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Avamere at Sandy, 17727 Langensand Road.

The event is held to give opportunities for local entrepreneurs to meet people from other businesses while enjoying a picnic on the deck as well as door prizes.

Bring a dollar to enter a drawing, which gives prizes to the winners and saves 50 cents from each entrant to pay for gifts and food for a needy family next Christmas.

Visit Sandy police Thursday

At this week’s Brown Bag Lunch, Sandy Police Chief Kim Yamashita will explain what to do if:

n Your business is robbed or if you witness a robbery.

n You see someone attempt to pass a bad check.

n You suspect credit card or other fraud or scam.

n When you call 9-1-1, how long will you wait for help?

Yamashita also will demonstrate the police department’s new Alert ID program, a free program for residents to learn what’s happening in a specific neighborhood.

Limited to 12 participants, the lesson and demonstration will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at the police department, 38950 Pleasant St. The class is free to chamber members, $5 for non-members.
