First Friday event resumes in August

The Sandy Main Street activity that brings local residents into the downtown core to visit businesses and the city library will not occur on the first Friday of July this year.

The downtown activity, designed to support businesses and familiarize local residents with the products and services of Sandy businesses, is being postponed because of a traditional city activity.

George Hoyt, chairman of the Sandy Main Street board, said the delay was because of the presence of the Shakespeare in the Park, Music Fair and Feast, Festival Parade and Sandy Mountain Festival - all of which occur in July.

Hoyt said the First Friday activities would resume Aug. 2 and continue in September and October.
