Police log

Information for the public safety column comes from public records of the Sandy Police Department. Police recently filed reports on the following incidents:

WARRANT ARRESTS

5:13 p.m. June 17; Philip R. Berger, 34, of Sandy was arrested in the 39800 block of Pleasant Street on a Clackamas County warrant for failure to appear for endangering the welfare of a minor and failure to appear for possession of methamphetamine. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $35,000 bail.

11:07 p.m. June 17; Douglas D. Hunt, 50, of Mulino was arrested in the 39500 block of Pioneer Boulevard on a Clackamas County warrant for failure to appear for driving while suspended. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $3,500 bail.

4:43 a.m. June 20; Brandon J. Cloud, 27, a transient, was arrested in the 39400 block of Gary Street on a Clackamas County felony warrant for a probation violation. He also was found to be in violation of a restraining order. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $5,000 bail.

8:44 a.m. June 21; Jason L. Guthu, 44, of Sandy was arrested in the 18100 block of Seaman Street on Clackamas County felony warrants for possession and distribution of heroin. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $40,000 bail.

3:45 a.m. June 21; Richard A. Cruikshank, 27, of Sandy was arrested in the 17100 block of Revenue Avenue on a Clackamas County warrant for theft. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $5,000 bail.

6:49 a.m. June 21; Marco A. Martinez-Menchaca, 25, of Sandy was arrested in the 39600 block of Dubarko Road on a Clackamas County warrant for theft. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $15,000 bail.

THEFT

5:09 a.m. June 9; a woman living in the 38800 block of Redwood Street reported that someone broke into her vehicle overnight and had taken a handgun. No suspects were identified.

8:20 p.m. June 11; a man living in the 38400 block of Park Street reported that a payday loan company was attempting to make withdrawals from his checking account. An officer is conducting an investigation.

11:28 a.m. June 12; a man living in the 39200 block of Hood Street reported that someone had taken his bicycle from a storage area at the apartment complex where he lives. Bicycle value reported was $650.

11:44 a.m. June 20; a man who operates a business in the 36700 block of Highway 26 reported that someone had called and impersonated a PGE employee, threatening to terminate the man’s service unless he paid a large sum of money with a prepaid credit card.

JUVENILES

2:34 p.m. June 11; a 2-year-old boy found wandering in the 18200 block of Reed Circle was later reunited with his parents.

11:20 a.m. June 12; a 16-year-old runaway girl was discovered at a residence in the 18000 block of Bluff Road. She was taken into protective custody and later released to her mother.

7:13 p.m. June 15; a 12-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were detained in Meinig Park, stopped after running from officers. One of the boys had a bag of marijuana, which was taken for destruction. The boys were released to the custody of their parents.

1:52 p.m. June 17; a 15-year-old boy from Rhododendron and a 14-year-old boy from Sandy were confronted on a hiking trail near Champion Way because they appeared from a distance to be preparing to smoke marijuana from a device. When the officer spoke to the boys, he reported the two boys admitted they were ready to smoke the marijuana. The officer seized the device and a small quantity of marijuana and took the youths into protective custody until their parents came to the police station to take them home. They will be referred to the county juvenile department.

3:07 p.m. June 18; a 14-year-old boy, a 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl, all from Sandy, were confronted about entering a home illegally in order to steal liquor from a locked bedroom cabinet. They were chased away by another juvenile who lives in the home. All three were referred to the county juvenile department for corrective action.
