Information for the public safety column comes from public records of the Sandy Police Department. Police recently filed reports on the following incidents:


5:32 p.m. July 3; Kenneth Kyle, 44, Sandy, was arrested in the 37600 block of Highway 26 under suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. He was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $15,000 bail.

10:38 a.m. July 6; Brendan R. Bogart, 22, Sandy, was arrested in the 38800 block of Pleasant Street under suspicion of assault after police observed a victim who had been beaten repeatedly about the head and face. Bogart was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $7,500 bail.


11:40 p.m. July 6; Stephen D. Stradley, 46, Sandy, was arrested in the 35900 block of Chinook Street on a Multnomah County warrant for hit and run. He also was charged with disorderly conduct after punching the cab driver after he left the cab. Stradley was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail on $13,500 bail.

Midnight July 7; Eric C. Osborne, 20, Welches, was arrested in the 17100 block of Beers Avenue on a Shasta County, Calif., felony warrant. He also was charged with assault and criminal mischief after punching someone whom he thought was stalking his girlfriend. Osborne was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail without bail because extradition was confirmed.


8:40 p.m. July 4; Wayne A. Sorensen, 42, Gresham, was cited and released in the 38200 block of Pioneer Boulevard, accused of possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana.


1:58 p.m. July 2; the owner of a business in the 37000 block of Highway 26 reported several items stolen from the business, totaling a value of $4,000.

9:37 p.m. July 5; a resident of the 36300 block of Yocum Loop reported that a water turtle had been stolen from a pool in the front yard the evening of July 4. Or perhaps the turtle was afraid of the fireworks and ran away from home.


3:15 p.m. July 5; a 15-year-old girl was reported to the county Department of Human Services because she is pregnant. DHS asked Sandy police to investigate the underage sexual conduct. Police determined that the sexual contact between the 15-year-old girl and her 17-year-old boyfriend was consentual and no further police response was required.

7:13 p.m. July 5; a 15-year-old boy admitted he had consumed almost all of a fifth of vodka. The youth was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. He also was referred to the county juvenile department for a delinquency review and corrective action.

7:13 p.m. July 5; a 17-year-old boy with a strong odor of alcohol on his breath was contacted near Hoffman and Proctor Boulevard. When he was told he would be detained, he ran from officers. The first officer tried to catch him, but fell and received minor injuries. A second officer gave chase and caught the youth, who resisted the officer’s attempts to take him into custody. In the fight to get free, the youth damaged a nearby parked car. The boy is being referred to the county juvenile department, charged with minor in possession of alcohol, resisting arrest and escape.

8:56 p.m. July 6; A boy, 16, and two girls, 15 and 16, decided to climb to the roof of the old drama area of the former Sandy High School in the 17100 block of Bluff Road. An officer discovered them there and contacted their parents. The boy’s mother came to the school to get her son, while the officer delivered the girls to the custody of their parents at home. The youths will be referred to the county juvenile department for corrective action on charges of criminal trespass.


10:46 a.m. July 5; the theft of two guns from a vehicle was reported in the 39100 block of Pioneer Boulevard. Stolen from a man’s unlocked truck were a black-powder rifle and revolver. But the suspect thief apparently didn’t want the weapons, dropping them near the scene of the crime.
