Residents near river get help for winter

A public workshop is being held to help local residents living near the Sandy River prepare for winter.

The event is sponsored by Clackamas County, Villages at Mt. Hood, Sandy River Basin Watershed Council and the Hoodland Fire District.

The workshop is scheduled from 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at The Resort at the Mountain, 68010 E. Fairway Ave., Welches.

People who attend this free event will have access to information and resources from local, regional and state agencies and organizations on a variety of topics. Local residents may stop by anytime between 9-11:30 a.m. and talk with representatives, about topics of their interest.

Library offers help with technology

The Sandy Public Library is offering help to people who are challenged by technology such as any task connected with the Internet.

A class on information technology is scheduled at 4 p.m. the first Tuesday of each month, beginning Oct. 1. The class is called Technology Tools Tutoring Tuesdays.

Help will be provided on using Facebook, uploading photos, answering email and using a Kindle, Nook or iPad as well as tweeting, blogging and navigating the Internet.

Chamber cuts biz ribbon after hours

The Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce will have another Chamber After Hours networking event from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Sandy Family Restaurant, 39024 Proctor Blvd.

Library friends to meet Sept. 11

The Friends of the Sandy Library will hold the group’s annual membership meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at AntFarm, 39140 Proctor Blvd.

The brief meeting is followed by a presentation from staff of AntFarm, describing how it was created, its mission and who the nonprofit is serving.

Meeting organizers plan to serve refreshments from the AntFarm Café.
