Rep. Dave Hunt speaks to Boring
Local residents have an opportunity evaluate another of the 10 declared candidates for Clackamas County Commission.
Former Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives Dave Hunt, D-Gladstone, will come to the Boring Citizen Planning Organization Feb. 7 to explain his candidacy for Position No. 1 (chairman) of the county commission.
Hunt says the county is off-track, and he wants to be in a position of leadership to bring it back to its expected track, stop the debate and move forward. He also wants to raise citizen involvement.
'As Clackamas County chair,' he said, 'I (would) hold town meetings in every city and every community, every year to meet with citizens at times and places that are convenient and accessible.'
Hunt will explain to Boring CPO members and other visitors at the Feb. 7 meeting how he plans to hear the diverse perspectives from county residents.
'We already have strong human and natural resources,' he said. 'But we aren't making progress. We can and must do better.'
The meeting has an agenda, according to CPO Chairman Steve Bates, that includes another in the Meet the Candidates series as well as an update from the park committee and reports from the CPO treasurer, communications committee, water district and fire department as well as land-use issues.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the main building of the Boring Fire Department on Highway 212 in Boring.
During the meeting, there will be opportunity for public comments.
